CONDOLEEZZA RICE: NOMINEE FOR SECRETARY OF STATE

Condoleezza Rice (view chart) was nominated to be the new U.S. Secretary of State just as the NEW MOON in SCORPIO put the spotlight exactly on her SUN-VENUS in SCORPIO. SCORPIOS are extremely determined and power-oriented, and her SUN-VENUS in SCORPIO describes her artistic and social skills, while her MERCURY in SCORPIO shows that she can communicate who she truly is.

The exact hour of Ms. Rice’s birth is in question, but her powerful personality is not. Equally obvious is her close compatibility with the President.

Dr. Rice (view chart) “connects” strongly with President Bush (view chart) in two clear ways.

First of all, they share a drive for power. The President is a PLUTONIAN person. PLUTO, known as planet of transformative power (and planet most associated with SCORPIO) is placed close to his ASCENDANT (Personality Projection). He “comes on” strong. Condoleezza has three of her most personal planets, the SUN, VENUS and MERCURY, in the sign of SCORPIO as well as her “career” planet, SATURN also in the sign of SCORPIO. Therefore Bush and Rice share this PLUTO or SCORPIO orientation. Both are individuals who commit themselves wholeheartedly, want to be in control, and push their agendas hard. SCORPIO is the “FIXED WATER” sign. SCORPIOS or PLUTONIANS move on instinct (WATER) and stay “fixed” on their goals.

The second intense and close connection between “W” and Condi is his SUN in CANCER and her MOON in CANCER. CANCER is another emotional and instinctual (WATER) sign. WATER sign people “sense” what is happening, are intuitive and emotionally oriented. CANCER is also one of the action oriented CARDINAL signs. The fact that Bush’s SUN (EGO and IDENTITY) connects to Rice’s MOON (RESPONSIVE and EMOTIONAL side) shows that they share a mutual understanding. Since CANCER is also the quintessential “family oriented” sign, it is not surprising that the Bushes are known to have made Condi almost a member of the family, inviting her up to Camp David and to other family occasions. It’s a comfortable fit. It was noted in one news source that the President and his nominee for Secretary of State can communicate “almost in body language with very few words”. And Laura Bush (view chart) is also a SCORPIO SUN sign (more about her later) so there is compatibility all around.

Condoleezza Rice’s SATURN in the sign of SCORPIO shows her need (and ability for) self control. The fact that she has six out of her ten planets in FIXED signs makes her formidable but potentially overly controlling. Her MARS (action planet) in AQUARIUS shows her commitment to her ideas. And if her ASCENDANT is indeed in the sign of AQUARIUS (humanitarian sign but tending toward intellectual and impersonal), that would perfectly describe someone with her kind of "composure and cool”.
