ISRAEL: LYNCHPIN FOR THE MIDDLE EAST
What lies ahead in 2006?
Recently,
there has been speculation that Israel might, by attacking
Iran’s nuclear facilities in a pre-emptive strike, repeat
Israel’s successful 1981 pre-emptive strike on Iraq’s
nuclear facilities.
“Under
no circumstances will we allow an enemy to develop weapons
of mass destruction against our people.” This statement
was released by Israel after their June 7, 1981 strike on
Iraq’s nuclear reactor outside of Baghdad. Israel was
publicly rebuked by the U.S., U.N. and many others. However,
in many quarters it was privately celebrated.
The state
of Israel was born on May 14, 1948 at 4 pm (view
chart) when Ben Gurion, its first Prime Minister, declared
Israel’s independence. Israel has the SUN in TAURUS,
a FIXED sign noted for its endurance. Its MOON is in LEO,
another FIXED sign. In fact, half of Israel’s planets
are in FIXED signs. An emphasis on fixity describes an entity
(either person or country) whose strongest characteristics
are determination and endurance.
Israel's
SATURN is in the sign of LEO. During 2006 Israel will be in
the middle of its second SATURN RETURN. During a SATURN RETURN,
a person or nation must make choices and re-affirm commitments.
It is also a significant time to define borders and recognize
limitations.
SATURN
will strongly impact the heart of Israel and its people, as
well as its leadership when it stations this Spring exactly
on Israel’s MOON at 4 degrees of LEO. This will be critical
for the whole population of Israel and the very heart of its
identity.
Simultaneously
in 2006, PLUTO (planet of terror, power and transformation)
will be activating Israel’s chart.
These
transits of SATURN and PLUTO derive extra power because SATURN
and PLUTO are conjunct in Israel’s birth chart. A SATURN-PLUTO
conjunction indicates a strong drive for power and control.
(See article "The Power
Cohorts" under Long Term Trends.)
The chart
of Israel will be especially interesting to monitor during
2006. Later, we’ll look at the connections between the
charts of the U.S. and Israel, as well as Israel’s ties
to other countries such as Palestine and Iran.
NOTE:
It is
interesting that the twelve signs of the zodiac are stamped
on the reverse side of Israel’s official state seal.
