JOHN NEGROPONTE
Director of National Intelligence
The whole
intelligence structure of the United States has been shifting.
On May 18, 2005 John Negroponte was sworn in as Director of
National Intelligence, a new position created to oversee all
U.S. intelligence. Previously (after a long foreign-service
career), he was Ambassador to the UN (2001-2004) and Ambassador
to Iraq (2004-2005).
John Negroponte
was born on July 21, 1939 in London, England (time unknown).
His father was a Greek shipping magnate and John had a distinguished
education in the United States.
Mr. Negroponte
(view chart)
has his SUN in the sign of CANCER, an intuitive and tenacious
sign. This CANCER SUN is in a tight T-SQUARE formation with
MARS (assertion), SATURN (discipline) and PLUTO (power), showing
a driving and forceful personality. His MERCURY squares URANUS,
demonstrating a brilliant and opinionated person who is often
in the intellectual vanguard.
MARS
in the sign of AQUARIUS shows someone who takes action on
the basis of strong intellectual beliefs. MARS was Retrograde,
therefore less forceful, in his birth chart but around age
34 MARS went into direct motion, giving him extra drive. This
MARS, by progression, has now returned to the same degree
it was at his birth, which seems a mark of destiny.
Additionally,
by progression, his SUN is now in the diplomatic sign of LIBRA.
It sextiles PLUTO, repeating the birth theme of intensity
and drive for power. And the SUN’s opposition to JUPITER
indicates an expanding influence.
Interestingly,
his VENUS (relationship planet) at 15 CANCER closely conjoins
both the U.S. Sun (view chart)
and President Bush’s SUN (view
chart). Once again, Bush has chosen someone closely aligned
to his own CANCER SUN.
Most
indications show that Mr. Negroponte will continue to expand
his influence and control. However, a hidden vulnerability
is his progressed SATURN conjoining his SOUTH NODE at 29 ARIES,
indicating a tremendous drain on his energy while trying to
maintain this leading role.
