WOLFOWITZ TRANSITION TO WORLD BANK
From War to Reconstruction
Energetic and resourceful, Wolfowitz's cool intellect meshes
with passionate conviction. Both a career change as well as
personal evolution are shown astrologically on his chart.
His many connections to the U.S. chart and George Bush's chart
are undergoing metamorphoses. It is fascinating to observe,
without even knowing his birth hour, how much his chart reveals.
Wolfowitz, a major architect of the war in Iraq, has now been
proposed by President Bush to be the next director of the
World Bank.
Wolfowitz (view
chart) was born in New York City on December 22, 1943.
Since the exact time is unknown, this chart has been calculated
for noon with the SUN placed on the ASCENDANT. Here his SUN
sign is in philosophical SAGITTARIUS. However, if born only
one hour later, his SUN sign would be in pragmatic CAPRICORN.
Many individuals born on the cusp between two signs may find
themselves with the same uncertainty. Fortunately, we can
look to many other factors in his chart to understand both
his character and development.
Very striking is the LOCOMOTIVE shape of his planetary placements,
all neatly positioned in two-thirds of the chart. This LOCOMOTIVE
pattern describes a person with great staying power once committed
to a path of action. One strongly defining characteristic
is his MARS-URANUS (dramatic action) in GEMINI (based on ideas).
In fact, his MARS-URANUS tightly aspects his PLUTO (drive
to power) as well as tightly aspecting his idealistic NEPTUNE.
His SUN-SATURN opposition, with both favorably aspecting JUPITER,
shows a capacity for discipline combined with a desire to
strive for large goals.
His emotions are deep and intense, indicated by both his MOON
and VENUS in SCORPIO. His VENUS is tightly configured with
his thinking planet, MERCURY, in pragmatic CAPRICORN, showing
that his heart and mind can be united in seeking a goal.
As could be expected, there are numerous close ties between
Wolfowitz's chart and the charts of the U.S.A. (view
chart) and President Bush (view
chart). Two connections between Wolfowitz and the U.S.
chart illustrate his connections to the Iraq war. The first
is the position of his SATURN (career and authority) closely
conjunct the U.S. MARS, which shows the potential for his
having a controlling hand over our aggressive posture. The
second tight connection is his MARS exactly conjunct the U.S.
ASCENDANT, illustrating his ability to help drive our aggressive
action.
The most
obvious connection between the charts of Wolfowitz and Bush
is that Wolfowitz's ultimate power planet, PLUTO, (which is
also part of his MARS-URANUS-NEPTUNE-NODES pattern) conjoins
Bush's ASCENDANT-MERCURY-PLUTO pattern. In other words, Wolfowitz
helps drive to action the President's forceful convictions.
If Paul
Wolfowitz has been considered a key architect of the war on
Iraq, why is he now changing his focus to the World Bank?
There, he would need to cooperate with so many other nations
on developing troubled areas of the world.
Some
of the changes in Wolfowitz's orientation are shown by changing
planetary patterns in the sky (TRANSITS), and shifts in his
progressed chart. In other words, both internal and external
forces are influencing this change in his life path.
First of all, Paul's SUN has PROGRESSED from ideological AQUARIUS
into the more compassionate sign of PISCES. Secondly, PLUTO,
as it opposes SATURN, is forcing him to transform his career
and the structure of his ideas.
Ultimately, the turbulent planet URANUS is drastically challenging
his path of action (his MARS pattern). This upcoming year
is one of the most defining periods of Mr. Wolfowitz's life
and career.
Astrological Note:
Wolfowitz's VENUS at 16° SCORPIO conjoins MARS at 16°
SCORPIO in the chart of the first Bush Inauguration. The placement
of this MARS terrified astrologers as it seemed to indicate
an attack on the person of the President or on the country.
