In
1995 Americans were riveted to their television sets for months
watching the murder trial of one of the country's most famous
celebrities, O.J. Simpson. From the time of the murders in
June, 1994, the significance of the O.J. Simpson case was
immediately apparent to astrologers because of the strong
connections between O.J.'s chart and the U.S. chart. These
connections offer great insight into why his trial, then called
the "Trial of the Century," resonated so deeply in the psyche
of the American public and polarized the nation.
O.J.
Simpson has entered the pantheon of American mythological
figures, forever remembered as a fallen hero, accused of the
double murder of his former wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend,
Ronald Goldman. His story remains a metaphor for many of America's
concerns, stirring national debate on critical issues of domestic
abuse, race, the justice system, and media excess.
This
was the first celebrity murder trial to be covered not only
daily in the print media, but from inside the courtroom on
TV. More than sixty books have been written about this case.
And almost no one involved in the trial - whether the accused,
the victims, witnesses, judge, lawyers or jurors - came out
with a reputation in as good shape as before the trial began.
Before
tragedy struck, O.J. Simpson seemed to have it all. From modest
beginnings, he rose to become a Hall of Fame football player,
sports broadcaster, movie comedian, and national spokesman
for Hertz Rent-a-Car. He was rich and charismatic, with immense
charm. He was a black man who had risen to triumph over the
constraints of a racist society. He was a hero to black and
white youths alike, signing autographs with a smile. Who didn't
like O.J. Simpson?
Does
his astrological chart say "whether he did it?" Could this
tragedy have been avoided? What can we see in his chart which
tells us about the motivations and inner turmoil of this man,
especially at the moment of crisis which destroyed his life?
Most of all, why did O.J. Simpson, from June 13th, 1994 to
October 3rd, 1995 and beyond, carry such a tremendous emotional
impact for millions of Americans?
Astrologically,
character is indeed destiny. O.J.'s chart shows the talent
and drive which propelled him to prominence. It reveals his
dynamism, charisma and pride, as well as his strong sexuality
and aggression. But, by June of 1994, at the time of the murders,
O.J.'s chart shows extreme confusion and upset. He had lost
his way and his exaggeratedly emotional side exploded.
We'll
look at some basic features of his chart, what had changed
by June, 1994, and how the charts of O.J. and the U.S. connect
with each other at all five stars of America's Destiny.
NO
DEGREES OF SEPARATION
The
most striking connection and closest tie between O.J.’s chart
and the U.S. chart is the planet Mercury, which symbolizes
thinking and communication. The position of Mercury on the
U.S. and O.J.’s charts are almost identical; in both charts,
Mercury is exactly the same degree of the zodiac, 25 degrees
of Cancer. This common degree of 25 Cancer is like a channel
of communication between O.J. and the American public. It
is though both O.J. and the U.S. were receiving messages on
the same radio channel at the same time. They are tuned into
the same wavelength. When Mercury is activated on O.J.’s chart,
it is simultaneously activated for the U.S.
Both
Mercurys were being opposed by the confusing planet, Neptune,
and the disruptive planet, Uranus. Together, Uranus and Neptune,
in conjunction, were simultaneously activating the charts
of O.J. and the U.S.. . . . Whereas the Stars of Fighting
Spirit and Innovation bind O.J. and the U.S. together in a
double knot, it is having the same Mercury in Cancer at the
American Star of Big Ideas which resulted in the trial becoming
such a media extravaganza.
